At the heart of Lumpinee Gym Limassol, Cyprus’s leading Muay Thai academy, stands Assistant Grandmaster (AGM) Kyriakos Christofi, a martial artist with over 30 years of experience and an unshakable dedication to the art and culture of Muay Thai.

Early Journey in Martial Arts

From a young age, Kyriakos Christofi was fascinated by the world of martial arts. He began his journey in Karate before expanding his horizons to Kung Fu and Kickboxing, where his competitive career took shape. Yet, it was Muay Thai—the “Art of Eight Limbs”—that ultimately became his life’s calling.

Training in Thailand – Building Authentic Knowledge

In 2001, when the Cyprus Muay Thai Association needed more qualified instructors, Kyriakos was selected to travel to Thailand and train at the World Muaythai Council (WMC) Camp in Koh Samui. His dedication and talent earned him official recognition as a Muay Thai instructor, beginning a career of teaching men, women, and children the authentic Thai art.

Over the years, AGM Kyriakos returned repeatedly to Thailand, training with some of the sport’s most respected masters, including:

• 2003 – Trained for a full month at the WMC Camp, defeating a Thai fighter by knockout in Chaweng Stadium.

• 2004 – Earned the prestigious title of Kru Yai 13 Khan (Chief Instructor) from the Higher Institute of Martial Arts in Thailand under Grandmaster Chinawood (Master Woody).

• 2009 – Achieved diplomas as a qualified Muay Thai Instructor (Grade A, Excellent) from the Muaythai Institute, Thailand.

• 2010–2011 – Continued advanced studies, receiving the high title of Arjarn (Master) Khan 14 from Thai Grandmasters.

Contributions to Muay Thai in Cyprus and Europe

AGM Kyriakos has played a central role in developing Muay Thai in Cyprus:

• Founded SPAMEL, an association with more than 100 students.

• Established the Cyprus Traditional Muaythai Federation (CYTMF) in 2012, officially recognized by the Cyprus Sports Authority.

• Organized the first Muay Boran seminar in Cyprus in 2014 with Grandmaster Kevin Loyd.

• Built CYTMF into a federation with 17 active associations, constantly sending athletes and instructors to Thailand for championships and training.

International Recognition & Leadership

In addition to his achievements in Cyprus, Kyriakos Christofi has gained worldwide recognition:

• Regularly invited abroad for seminars, including a Muay Boran seminar in Lebanon with over 100 participants.

• Appointed as President of EMO (European Muaythai Organization) in 2024, representing WMO (World Muaythai Organization) and WMBF (World Muayboran Federation) across Europe.

• His mission is to support national federations, grow Pro-Am Muay Thai, and expand Muay Boran in European countries.

As the Head Instructor of Lumpinee Gym Limassol, AGM Kyriakos Christofi continues to inspire the next generation of fighters. Under his leadership:

• Lumpinee Gym has produced European and World Champions, proudly representing Cyprus on the international stage.

• The Kids Academy has become one of the fastest-growing in Cyprus, instilling discipline, respect, and a love for Muay Thai in young athletes.

• The gym is recognized as one of the top Muay Thai gyms in Cyprus, known for authentic training, competitive success, and community spirit.
